A sculpture resembling a religious scene, with a heart-shaped object in the center on a tile-like base, surrounded by small cylindrical objects, and flanked by two vases with chains and sticks, all placed on a decorated cloth.
A sculpture of a human hand with coins placed on it, lying on the floor against the wall. There is a ceramic vessel with a fish design placed on the hand, and in the background, there are two vases on a raised platform with small decorative objects visible.
Decorative vases with dried branches on a wooden surface, with scattered coffee beans.
A small, leaf-shaped ornament hanging from a string against a yellow background.
A sculpture of a hand made from a soft, fabric-like material, resting on a floor in the corner of a room with plain yellowish walls.

Open Those Eyes Of Yours is a multi-media installation focusing on the ritualistic qualities of mundane living.

Creating a space that reflects my experiences, yet still draws on shared encounters: I wanted this to feel like a familiar setting, but obscured by the obsessive warmth of capturing quiet happenings.

Using teabags as a material, they go through a rigorous process to create the house tent. The teabag reflects a lifecycle: it lies dormant, is used for brewing (finally activated and alive), and then discarded. Creating this space within a space, the tent feels protective. When inside, the low table presents a ceramic plate in the shape of cupped hands, seemingly waiting for your arrival. Carefully placed ceramic cigarette butts outline the setting, and obscured vessels adorn the table, carrying bare twigs and delicate ceramic chains. This ceremonial atmosphere is intensified by a poem nailed to the wall, reciting an obvious reminder that "you are alive".

Body-less hands line the walls, ceiling, and floor. Holding on, and empty - reaching, and yearning. Ceramic birds are hung by twine, frozen in their material and fleeting, with nowhere to go. Vases sit on the floor, carefully decorated with rituals - one reflecting the religious, and the other reflecting domesticity.

Open Those Eyes Of Yours is the final body of work made at Nottingham Trent University during my three-year course on BA (Hons) Fine Art 2025.
